Fire Truck cupackes

Birthday cupcakes for a little boy who love fire trucks.
The flames are the same design as some fireman cupcakes that I made for my nephew.

These were my favorite for the weekend of a thousand cupcakes!
(OK, not really a thousand cupcakes, but a lot)

but please don't turn me into Cake Wrecks!
warning, if you haven't been there before, you won't look at cakes the same again!

Damask bridal shower

Chocolate cupcakes for a bridal shower. Black and white damask and apple-green bows were the theme.

I used my stencils for the damask cupcakes. The client and I agreed to go bigger on the fondant topper for these because of the large size of the pattern. I love the way that they turned out. Stencils are amazing!

As a design element, we decided to go with chocolate ganache on the other cupcakes. I think that it offsets the green bows beautifully - and tastes great with the chocolate cupcakes!

I had hoped to add some sugar crystals too, but the humidity made them soft and they lost their faceted shape.

Teacher 'Thank-Yous'

Some boxed treats for our teachers. I made some mini square chocolate cakes for my son's preschool teachers, some chocolate cupcakes for my daughter's teacher, and some knitting cupcakes for a client's teachers.
I purchased new boxes for these and I think that they make the best presentation!

Purdue Veterinary Grad

Graduation party! Congratulations to the graduate!!!!
The 6" Boilermaker cake is similar to one that I did before (but I added a few flowers, since it's was for a young woman)
(for the cake geeks, I used cake cut-off to make the front of the train/cowcatcher. and the grad cap is gumpaste molded over a small bowl. the tassel was made with a clay extruder - love that tool!)
I really loved the way that the cookies came out - the silhouette was definitely my favorite!

baby girl shower cupcakes

Vanilla cupcakes and Lemon minis.
These are similar to several that I have done before, and I love them ever time.
For the minis, I tried something a little different. (I really liked the flowers with the button centers.)

Relay for Life event

Relay for Life fundraising event!
yummy treats!
chocolate cupcakes with purple fondant ribbons.
purple ribbon sugar cookies.
and just some fun mini cookies - I really loved the purple on purple color to these!

Chica Boutiqua

This is me at Chica Boutiqua (put on by a friend of a friend, Kathy Wood - thank you!).

Here are some of my cookies, all packaged up. (on my favorite MacKenzie-Childs Spencer plates!!!)

and here are my cupcakes and cakes. I just love the way the cakes look boxed up. I make vanilla cupcakes the first day, and since they sold out, I made chocolate cupcakes for the second day.

This is the last cake that I made for the second day. I was inspired by my tulips in my garden. I really liked this cake.

The rest are photos of closeups of my cookies that I made for the event. My butterfly cookies were something that I wanted to do after my turkey cookies came out so fun last fall. My flower cookie was inspired by the awesome TracyLH
The soccer cookies were also a blend of the Tracy's work as well as Sweet Sugar Belle.

Happy Birthday Madison!

Happy Birthday to my daughter!
My daughter wanted Tinker Bell for her party. This is the cake that I made for her - not the one that I had planned on, but things happen...

I forgot to get a "Tinker Bell topper" so I painted one on fondant.
I love painting on fondant, but I haven't gotten the food-color-paint consistency down yet.

New baby boy - Cupcake tower

I just loved the way this came out - maybe it's because teal-blue and black are some of my favorite colors!

Five inch mini pumpkin spice cake on top of my acrylic cake stand. The shoes are gumpaste, with templates and directions from 'stellastarchild' on CakeCentral.

The cupcakes are similar to several baby cupcakes that I have done previously, but I just love the contrast, especially on the dark chocolate ganache icing!

Since the royal icing pieces have a tendency to melt after siting on the buttercream, I added the fondant circles with gave them a fabulous polka-dot look!

Christmas Party cupcakes

I made these for a neighbor's Christmas party that we went to. They are similar to some previous cupcakes that I made which I really liked. In addition to the snowflakes, I added the holly. Chocolate cupcakes (raspberry filling), vanilla buttercream icing, chocolate fondant shapes with royal icing piping.

tasty Winter Wednesday

A winter treat for my brother-in-law. I wanted to come up with something quick and pretty, since I didn't have a lot of time. I really liked how these came out, especially for "just making it up as I went along."

Vanilla and chocolate cake with vanilla, chocolate-hazelnut, and raspberry buttercream filling. Vanilla buttercream and chocolate ganache icing.Chocolate fondant with royal icing snowflakes and white chocolate fondant chocolate snowflakes.

surprisingly yummy little toppers! (not that I thought that they would taste bad, but I thought that they were yummy enough to stand alone :)

bright and groovy baby cupcakes

I just love bright colors!
These were for a baby shower where the gender is still a surprise!

yummy little bites.
Chocolate and lemon mini cupcakes with chocolate ganache icing, and lemon buttercream respectively.

Royal icing baby accents.

little snowmen cupcakes

little snowmen for some winter cupcakes. just something "quick" - well that's what I thought. fondant/gumpaste figures always take longer than I estmate!
Vanilla white cake with raspberry buttercream filling, and vanilla buttercream icing. Royal icing snowflakes, and blue sanding sugar.
