New Baby Girl

oh, I just thought these were darling. I made Royal Icing (hard sugar frosting) decorations similar to several baby cookies that I have made (Thanks to my friends on CakeCentral for all the inspiration). These were mini cupcakes - Lemon with Lemon Buttercream, and Strawberry with Strawberry Buttercream. So good! I haven't made strawberry in a long time, and I added just a bit too much strawberry puree to the batter. They didn't puff up and look as pretty, but they tasted wonderful.

Blue Ribbon Cookies

I made these cookies for my neighborhood's back to school party. My great neighbors organized some cool games, and these were the prizes. [Such a bummer we were in California and missed, OK maybe not, it was California and the Land of Mouse!]

My Take on Monet

Ok, I'm not Monet, but Monet was an impressionist right? and this has a Monet impression, right? well I thought so. I would have liked to get the background a little more blue. It was an all white fondant cake, hand painted to look like Monet's famous Water Lilies painting (one of my all time favorites - had a poster up in my dorm room forever!)
I really enjoyed this cake!

[and I thank my customer for being so understanding an picking it up from my awesome neighbor, who I also thank!]

Tea Cake - Take Two

Fun birthday cake, and an opportunity to make some improvements to my previous version of this cake. (The original cake was make as a Styrofoam display cake for the ZEF auction.) Making it in real cake was not quite as easy.... Anyway, I brightened up the colors and really liked it. Plus I got to photograph the MacKenzie-Childs inspired teapot on my brand new MacKenzie-Childs cake plate -- gotta love it!
