for the love of cupcakes!

This was an order from someone that just loves my cupcakes and had no specific style in mind. Chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream filling and frosting.
This is what I came up with. Chocolate fondant circles with royal-icing stencils. I absolutely love these!

Beach Birthday!

How fun is a beach themed birthday in February?!!!
what a great way to feel warm when winter seems to be dragging on.
Twin 5" cakes - one vanilla and one chocolate. The palm trees are gumpaste and fondant on wire. The rest is fondant with a little graham cracker sand and royal icing wave foam.

Plus matching beach cookies.

Valentine's Day Move-in

These were for a new home-owner move-in basket. Since it was Valentine's Day weekend, I went with that theme! The heart cutter that I used was one of the ones that my mom gave me from my grandmother. I really like the taller shape!
I've been seeing more henna inspired cookies lately so I went that route with the white one. I liked the way it came out better than last year.

Chandelier cupcakes

These were an interesting challenge, but once again, I love the colors!

Plus she served them on MacKenzie-Childs checked enamelware - my fav!!!

Chicago White Sox

Birthday cake for a White Sox fan. 8" chocolate cake, shaped and tapered.
For this one, I decided to go with the new thing in cake... rice-krispy treats. The hat and baseballs are RKT, covered in fondant. Wow, that worked great! no sagging and light weight!
Plus I got to eat the scraps... YUM!
For the cake nerds out there, I cut and shaped a piece of gumpaste to form the brim, then put a piece of chocolate/black fondant over it.

New baby boy - Cupcake tower

I just loved the way this came out - maybe it's because teal-blue and black are some of my favorite colors!

Five inch mini pumpkin spice cake on top of my acrylic cake stand. The shoes are gumpaste, with templates and directions from 'stellastarchild' on CakeCentral.

The cupcakes are similar to several baby cupcakes that I have done previously, but I just love the contrast, especially on the dark chocolate ganache icing!

Since the royal icing pieces have a tendency to melt after siting on the buttercream, I added the fondant circles with gave them a fabulous polka-dot look!
