Angela Haines, a freelance writer, has been posting some interesting articles on start-ups and entrepreneurs.
In her latest one, she interviewed a couple amazing women and littl' ol' me and about their career changes.
I am humbled to be considered for such a feature!

Baptism Cake
This came out so adorable! One of my favorite cakes for sure.
(The style was influenced by a piece that the customer had.)
3.5" White cake with raspberry filling.
5" White cake with vanilla buttercream.
7" Chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream.
This was such a sweet cake for me, it came as a referral from a neighbor, and the baptism was held at my church.

Italian 50th Anniversary Cake
Golden anniversary cake for a special couple of Italian heritage. Their daughter ordered the cake with a painted design from Florence. It had accents of gold all through it. (There was also a gold piece that went in the top not pictured here)

Indiana State Fair 2010 - 1st Place!
These are my fair entries for this year. I entered the wedding cake - professional division, and the decorated cookies. My plan was to do a lot more piping, as it seemed last time the judges wanted to see that.
I wasn't sure what my design was going to be, I just started using the things that I love... my polka-dot base, my stencils, bows, my new flowers cutters....
I did love it when it was done.
So did the judges - 1st place & Sweepstakes (1st overall)!!!
The cookies were a total after thought. I knew that I wanted to do some, but I got really into my cake and was running out of time for the cookies.
The fair theme this year was the 'Year of the Pig.' I found some cute clip art online and a photo of my mom's weather vane.
1st Place again!

Grandpa's Birthday
My grandfather's birthday is July 3rd, and my aunt's birthday is July 6th, so, traditionally I made my grandfather a big cake and my aunt a little one.
My grandfather loves pheasants so for the last two years I have made pheasant cakes. This year I decided to do his fishing boat. We visited him in Florida this spring and reminisced about going out on his fishing boat (trying to find fish with the fish finder, getting stuck on sand bars, getting lost and looking for the lane markers...). When I mentioned the idea to my mom - she said she was thinking the same thing!

Percy Jackson and the Olympians
Birthday party cookies for a big fan of the Percy Jackson book series.
And, yes, I am crazy. I wasn't sure how to portray the characters with piping, so I painted them on white cookies with food color. They came out fabulous! but it took quite a while - good thing that I love to paint!
(I made a little cake too for the candle)
