This request was for a "hat" cake.
I had considered making a large hat that was all cake, but honestly, it's much harder to estimate servings, and to cut. So, I asked the client if I could make a hat for the top of the cake. I think that the hat came out adorable! (it's gumpaste over cereal-treats, textured with a plastic woven place mat)
You can't really see it in this photo, but I cut the top of cake askew so that the hat sat at an angle. I think that that gave it more interest.
It also gave me a great excuse to use my new flower cutters!
(have you noticed that I have a problem with new tools - I try so hard to restrain myself - but look at that flower!?!!)

Bright and Groovy cake
Apparently Chloe is a 'Cake Boss' fan, and she designed the cake for the girls birthday party.
She provided me with the design elements and colors - I think that it came out adorable! Way to go Chloe!
Hope they had a great time at the party - I had a great time making this cake!

Princess Castle Cake
This is a repeat of a cake that I've done twice before - but I love it!
Thank you so much to 'msauer' on CakeCentral for the design and help so long ago!!!!
This was a "funfetti" cake (white cake with rainbow spinkles) and chocolate buttercream. The chocolate buttercream makes for a nice design element too, I thought.
Since I'm not going to try an reproduce a Disney character, I bought the princesses - but they've been discontinued!!! why? are they crazy? I don't know, but it will make it difficult to do this again.

Teacher 'Thank-Yous'
Some boxed treats for our teachers. I made some mini square chocolate cakes for my son's preschool teachers, some chocolate cupcakes for my daughter's teacher, and some knitting cupcakes for a client's teachers.
I purchased new boxes for these and I think that they make the best presentation!

Purdue Veterinary Grad

The 6" Boilermaker cake is similar to one that I did before (but I added a few flowers, since it's was for a young woman)
(for the cake geeks, I used cake cut-off to make the front of the train/cowcatcher. and the grad cap is gumpaste molded over a small bowl. the tassel was made with a clay extruder - love that tool!)
I really loved the way that the cookies came out - the silhouette was definitely my favorite!
